The city is situated in the northern extreme of the province of Misiones on the border between Paraguay and Brazil. It is located right in the confluence of the Paraná and Iguazú rivers. Its port has an intense movement with Port Meira (Brazil), in a typical bordering zone with movement of people in the direction in which the money exchange is more favourable. Puerto Iguazú is linked with Brazil and Ciudad del Este in the Republic of Paraguay through the International Bridge Tancredo Neves.
