5 km away from Museo Jesuítico Nacional Jesús María (Jesús María Jesuitical Museum) to the north through the Camino Real al alto Perú Camino Real al alto Perú , we can get to Sinsacate. Its history dates back to 1650 when the mountainous spot starts to be part of Jesus María farm, with the name of Puesto de San Pablo de Sinsacate. Right there and before they were expelled from the American territory, the Jesuits? Order set up a small building, an adjoining chapel and a flour mill serving as support to the missionary company of the colony. The place gained importance with the creation of the regular postal service. In this way, Puerto de San Pablo de Sinsacate turned to be called Posta de Sinsacate, and became the most important path of the province, fundamental to the horse exchange and the postmen rest. The splendid strategic location of the village served as shelter for some of the great national heroes. Among the walls of the small building reminiscent of Jesuitical style, it resounds the names of the national heroes Manuel Belgrano and Lavalle. The chapel also witnessed the fateful event that ended with Facundo Quiroga`s life in Barranca Yaco. His mortal remains lay in this small settlement. Sinsacate is filled with the magic and mysteries of history. Strolling through its streets is just starting to unveil this village?s beauties. Walking around Sinsacate is to start a trip beyond its limits and feel the need to know Reynafe`s house, in Tulumba, where tactics to ambush Quiroga, the Tigre de los Llanos were used. Walking around Sinsacate is to feel the need to take again the route to other spots making up Camino Real to Alto Perú. Walking around Sinsacate is to introduce ourselves into the foundation times of the country, is to establish a starting point from where the complex paths of history plough through.Distance to Córdoba 53 Km.source:cordobaturismo.gov.ar

As usual in Córdoba, the origins of Santa Rosa traces back to the times of bonfires around which the wisdom of the tribal peoples were spread. As it is already known, these primitive tribes perished with the arrival of the first European colonizers. This conquest of the land allows the settlement of different foreign families, the first Jesuitical constructions and the land exploitation. This, which happened four centuries ago, was the beginning of the emergence of one of the most populated cities in Valle de Calamuchita. Among the fanciful forms of Sierras Chicas and the impressive rocky mass of Sierras Grandes, Santa Rosa stands glamorously inviting tourists to try its varied hotel offer and entertainment. When the sun shines on it and the crystal clear river skirts throughout the heart of the city, it means that the atmosphere is perfect to start walking along the paths, to enjoy the horseback rides, to practice diving, to fish and try the all-terrain vehicle circuits among other outdoor activities. The balance between nature and civilization is absolutely possible here. Exuberant vegetation, crystal clear rivers and dream spots mix with the high-quality cottages and hotels to provide visitors all the comfort. When night starts to hide the places that the sun lit hours before, Santa Rosa starts to display the wide gamut of night options as bars, restaurants, cinemas, pubs and discos among others. Driving along that same route 5, starting at the capital city of Córdoba and after passing by Alta Gracia, Los Molinos Dike and Villa General Belgrano, Santa Rosa de Calamuchita appears. Santa Rosa is a combination of Sierras Chicas and Sierras Grandes landscapes, a quiet mountain range spot and vibrant city. It is a site with mighty rivers, incredible hotels, natural walks and masses of shops. To enjoy Santa Rosa is worth doing it from all its sides; that of its origins, around the historical bonfire and Jesuitical anecdotes, that of the peaceful isolated corners and that of the nigh and funny life of this city.

Years ago, in that place it started to be constructed Santa Leocadia Farm and a small chapel to pay homage to the patron’s saint San Roque. The construction of the incredible San Roque dike in Valle de Punilla, called after the patron’s saint, was the reason why the building of the farm and picturesque temple were abandoned and submerged under the waters of this dike. That is when the second stage of the story of San Roque dike starts; and it is linked to the construction of the big wall which holds the water and the growth of the neighbouring Bialet Massé village. Little by little this site start to grow by the margins of the gigantic lake, which is the ideal background for the practice of any kind of aquatic sports and a privileged destination for those whishing to get deep into the quietness of this water mirror and enjoy the nights fishing. Its closeness to Carlos Paz villa and to the rest of the others tourist centres of Valle de Punilla is another advantage of this place. By the shores of the lake, there is a beautiful observation tower from where the flags of the different provinces of Argentina flutter. Right there, there is also a square called Plaza Federal, in the middle of which there is a urn with a handful of soil of every province as a symbol of union and brotherhood of the Argentine country. This a place with an strategic location since it is near some of the most important tourist centres; it is also beautify by the huge San Roque dike constructed among the fanciful shapes of the shores where tourists can enjoy the magic of Valle de Punilla region.

The flower power, the long fluttering hair over his shoulders, the fight for peace and love symbolized in two “V” shaped fingers, were looking for representing the wish of liberation of a movement that in the 60’s strayed off the axis of the stuffy style of conservative life. Some of the members of this Hippy philosophical viewpoint decided to move away from the dogmas of the consumption society and settle in the natural paradise offered by San Marcos Sierras. Just over 10 kilometres to the north of route 38 it is located this beautiful and quiet tourist villa where the tranquility, the art and the contagious “Alpha state” reign. The first catching activity is sniffing around its small streets which end up in the main square. As we continue the way up around its corners, a sign calls our attention; “Museo Hippie” (Hippy Museum). Under the carob and terebinth trees that radiate shadow runs the twisting path showing the way up to the museum set up in a round and white little house built for a natural birth. As a chapel holding in its interior the religious relics of its belief, the small hippy house stores a wide variety of psychedelic-style belief objects of the 70’s. Bob Dylan’s, Pescado Rabioso’s, Almedra’s, Luis Alberto Spinetta’s and Bob Marley’s records; Castaneda’s and Lao-Tsé’s books; and photographs of long hair and natural harmony times. Nearby, a transparent peace sign is built with its visitors’ wishes everyday. It is worth mentioning this is not a metaphor. Wishes are written down in small pieces of paper that are later introduced in bottles, whose destiny is to increase the height of the huge sign. Some, looking for the place’s cosmic energy; others, delighted by the virtues of its land and landscapes, San Marcos Sierras’ population was growing little by little. There are carts pulled by horses between restaurants and grocer’s shops on the streets. This honey paradise and centre of aloe vera-based products also offers a varied offer regarding accommodation and interesting circuits. All over its beautiful corners, there are cottages, hostels and camping areas, the Museo Regional Rumi Huasi (the Regional Rumi Huasi museum), private beaches by Quilpo river, different options for adventure tourism and rides along the nearby hills, the Festival de la Miel (the Honey Festival), narrow streets and people’s tranquility. As expected; sooner or later, the intriguing sign Museo Hippie (Hippie museum) will show up. In few minutes, we will certainly be in front of the huge peace sign built with bottles filled with papers and this will be our turn to make our wishes. With pen and paper in hand, thousands of existential questions come to mind. Attention! We must only write wishes, not questions. In San Marcos Sierras they know that the answers have another way, that they sail round the world and that it is useless to overload the papers with millions of questions. There we are told that only by growing spiritually we could gain access to those answers as Bob Dylan used to sing, “..they float in the wind..” Distance to Córdoba 128 Km.source:cordobaturismo.gov.ar

Route 9 leads us to San José de la Dormida. After passing by Jesús María, the landscape turns basically flat. Large stretches of corn and soya reflex the bright of the sun rising and burning above us. The plain, the sun, the field and again the plain. By the roadside, the small towns start to show up: the picturesque chapel of Simbolar, the particular charm of Las Peñas and the peace of Totoral. The northern area of the province is perhaps one of the most fascinating regions but its magic is not reflected in heavenly fast-flowing rivers, in beaches of white sand or landscapes of vast geographical relief. Magic is manifested only to those who know how to look for it and a great deal of magic lies in its settlers, its customs and its inhabitants? unselfish hospitability. By that road full of small villages, 125 km away from the capital of Córdoba, it is located San José de la Dormida. Full of reminiscences from the firts settlers: the Sanavirones and Comechingones, this land was populated with poor houses belonging to farmers and agricultural labourers. Among its streets there are also important constructions which were home of great landowners of the area settled in La Dormida by the end of the 19th century. The best way to know La Dormida is by walking around its small streets and enjoying its settlers murmur. Some of its villages are as old as the capital of Córdoba and paradoxically many of them stopped growing some years ago.
This long history has shaped the magnificent myths, anecdotes and legends of Córdoba`s land. These are some of the reasons why this incredible corner must be throughly visited. San José de la Dormida unveils its beauty in every spot and mainly in every inhabitant and traditions. The slogan is: enjoy the peace offered by the town and go deep into the mysteries of a history present everywhere, even in the honest and friendly settlers.Distance to Córdoba 125 Km.source:cordobaturismo.gov.ar
