In his annual review of the year’s best wines by Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate, all 3 of the Achaval-Ferrer group’s wines scored marks of 96 points or higher. Parker is considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on reviewing wines.
This is an extraordinary achievement, considering that the Achaval-Ferrer winery is still relatively new, founded in 1999. Only two other local wineries were listed in the top ten: Viña Cobos and Bodega Catena Zapata. You can try some of the Achaval-Ferrer wines, as well as various others selected by Santiago Achaval, at the Vines of Mendoza tasting room in downtown Mendoza (see Mount Aconcagua).
