The first image that comes to the mere mention of La Pampa is the horizon at the end of a vast plain, an orange sky and the silhouette of a tree that is not a ombú but a caldén, native species which distinguishes it in the world and that formed the forest that gave its raison Capital, Santa Rosa.

But this is just one. The other image, anything popular is that one has to visit the city. Curiously, it’s not about land, but with water. As an example, in the middle, stands emblematic of that other profile building that is headquarters of the municipal government built as a replica of a marine vessel.

And a postcard “Aquatic” is derived from the lagoon park Don Tomas, which takes its name from the founder of the city, in 1893, Thomas Mason. With lighthouse included, since one of the margins, the Capital is displayed panned and modern buildings of medium height.

The park is the lung of the capital, where it is the house-museum, which now belonged to the founder, who according evil tongues got the captaincy of Santa Rosa thanks to a trap, leaving out his competitor Toay. He had transcended that the central government granted the status of having the best quality of water. The story unofficial account that Don Thomas reversed the labels of the samples. True or not, Santa Rosa is the Capital and Toay has better quality drinking water.

The two were the last place populated by the white man before the Conquest of the Desert, and even where the train arrived (it was what is called “tip of rail” train revolved to return to Buenos Aires, his starting point.)

Born boards but grew up different. Even today shows. Santa Rosa hard for modernized to the point of turning his old cathedral in a modern facade and Toay was trying to recover the houses and shops in late 1800, as the general store branches turned into municipal library.

A casino offers a national network, with shows daily with leading figures and the opportunity to dine there any day until three o’clock in the morning. The other, watching from the top of mangrullo that belonged to a fort in 1883 and exploring by bike or on foot through dirt that open between the native vegetation.

They are separated by 11 miles of a perfectly paved road and flagged was formerly a fence and a tranquera. The two synthesized La Pampa.
